Hello everyone. Hope we are all doing fine?
Today, I write to commemorate the just past World’s volunteerism day. I know many youths do not know the importance of volunteering.
Today, I will be pointing out some key importance of volunteering.
Youths of today do not see the big picture of offering their human service for a given course for free. Many youths dream of working in the biggest offices and in international NGO.
I will like to point out this clear to them that most of their dream jobs requires certain years of experience in a related field and as such, one of the ways in which they can attain the required experience is through volunteering. It does not necessarily mean that you have to go to these big Companies to volunteer for them to see you before they can give you the job. No!
You can start somewhere no matter how small, but be sure to gain the relevant basic skills required.
Sometimes, some of these Companies will just want you to demonstrate some level of volunteerism so as to see how much you can withstand certain internal abnormal conditions like when such companies cannot pay your salary in time.
I have been a witness whereby a friend of mine told me after a job interview that he didn’t have any official working experience, but because his CV showed a year of volunteering in a Hospital as a medical laboratory scientist, he was offered the job, but someone who has a first class degree in the related field without any working experience or volunteerism.
One of the best ways I see volunteering is in local NGOs that are engaged with community services. I am not saying that volunteering for a company is bad, but I am very passionate when I volunteer for NGOs as I believe that my services is spread equally to those within that community in question.

(Me talking to youths as a form of volunteering for an NGO, Favour Low-cost Health Care Foundation)
It is worth mentioning here that you directly give your human labour for free, but indirectly, u gain experience(s) and skill(s). So, I will rather advice that youths should always welcome volunteerism and never drop them down.
I just want to use this as a point of contact to encourage youths to never turn down the smallest opportunity to offer their human services in return for nothing.
Happy Volunteerism to every youth. I believe that youths should make up the greater portion of volunteers in the world and not the other way round.
